PROPERTY COMMITTEE

 

MAJOR ACTIVITIES

  • Contracting with outside organizations for major repair/maintenance work.
    • Masonry, roofs, electrical, plumbing etc.
  • Working “bees”.
    • Small repairs, painting plastering, carpentry etc.
  • Organize Spring and Fall workdays (Property Committee Socials).
    • Preparations for the coming season, both inside and outside.
      • Congregation participation.
    • “Job Jar” method.
    • Refreshments.
  • Arrange for individuals (youth members of the congregation) to provide door security when various outside or church groups are using the facilities.
  • Provide door security during normal Church services.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintenance and supervision of Church property.
  • Purchasing of equipment and supplies to maintain the property.
  • Negotiating and maintaining contracts with maintenance services firms.
    • Janitorial and associated tasks.
    • Grass and grounds care.
    • Snow removal.
  • Allocating of rooms in the Christian Education Centre, including a schedule of donations and their receipt, as guided by current regulations.
  • Planning a maintenance program for the property at least annually, and where possible for a three year period: and presenting it yearly to the Official Board, for approval in principle, by the September meeting.

 

MEMBERSHIP

  • Chairman - Nominated by the Nominating Committee and elected by the Official Board.
  • A member of the UCW.
  • A member of the Board of Trustees.
  • A variable number of members from the Congregation.

 

MEETINGS

  • No fixed schedule. Member’s availability considered in setting dates.
  • Usually in the Parlour, in the evening at 7:30 pm, at about 6-week intervals throughout the year. Meetings are not normally held in July and August.
